PODCAST: CAN TALL BUILDINGS EVER BE SOCIALLY SUSTAINABLE

Welcome to the first episode of our City of Tomorrow podcast series in partnership with the Future of London.

In this episode, Chris Miele chairs this interesting debate with Claire Bennie, Director of Municipal, and Frank Filskow, Partner at Make Architects, on the question of whether tall residential buildings can ever be socially sustainable.

They discuss a range of topics, including Claire’s views on the potential costs, socially and financially, to families living in tall buildings, as well as the potential lack of opportunities for young children growing up in this space.  Frank also shares his thoughts on the role they can play where land is scarce and the potential benefits to families living there.  There’s also a lively conversation on the sustainability of tall buildings, the embodied carbon involved, and what needs to be considered for the future.

It’s a fascinating conversation, and we hope you enjoy it.
